Due to unforeseen circumstances, Amy and Paul were unable to have their wedding as originally planned. As I am sure you can imagine, calling off your wedding is far from easy, even when it's the logical and better choice - you can't help but feel sadness. When I first got word of Amy and Paul canceling their wedding, my heart broke. I was sorry for them and for what they must be feeling and going through at a time like this. However, hearing that everything was OK between them and that her and Paul were interested in having a photo session, that they "still want[ed] something happy to happen that day", made me smile and warmed my heart. This not only meant - they are still together, they are still happy - it meant, they still wanted me to be a part of "their day" in some sort of way. They equated me and what I could share with them with happiness. I don't think anything is better than that.
